2023 Weinbau Carmenere

Vineyard Sources: 100% Carmènére from Weinbau Vineyard, Wahluke Slope

ABV: 13.8% // 98 cases produced.

Aging and Barrel Program: Aged for 24 months in neutral oak

As always with Carmènére, there is so much happening in the nose, mouthfeel and finish of this varietal.  The name originates from the French word for "crimson" (carmin), which refers to the brilliant crimson color of autumn foliage prior to leaf-fall. The appearance of our 2023 vintage represents just that, it's gorgeous!  It opens up with notes of light green tomatillo, followed with pomegranate, and juicy plum.  A bright finish with medium body, acidity and tannin.

Food Pairing
Due to the dark fruit and spicy elements in this wine- think anything sweet and savory.  Or creamy to cut the spice. Cheddar, Brie, Camembert, or Queso Fresco cheeses. Dishes such as beef brisket, roasted chicken or lamb, pork ribs with a honey BBQ sauce or anything with bacon.
