Tasting Notes

The Holmes family established Ciel du Cheval vineyard in 1975 on Red Mountain, and has produced incredible quality and distinction with their wine grapes for many years. The vineyard has a simple mission: grow grapes that are the best reflection of the unique terroir and give a sense of place.  Anelare wines from Ciel du Cheval vineyard does that year after year. Our rows of Sangiovese fruit hang right by the iconic barn on the property.  This fruit tends to ripen nice and slow with long hang time.

100% Sangiovese // aged for 24 months in neutral oak

ABV: 14.8% // 196 cases produced

Stunning ruby color in the glass, lighter in body yet has that Red Mountain strength in structure... we say the best of both worlds.  Bright fruit, medium acidity, with notes of pepper jelly and green vine of tomato in the garden.  Super juicy on the palate with flavors of cherry and plum. Full bodied, and beautiful finish. Team favorite.
