Vineyard Sources: 100% Merlot, Boushey Vineyard, Yakima Valley.
Boushey Vineyard, located in the Yakima Valley AVA of Washington state, is a renowned 125 to 160-acre estate known for cool-climate, high-elevation grapes, particularly Syrah and Rhône varieties. Established in 1980 by Dick Boushey, the site is characterized by south-facing, steep slopes (800–1,400 ft) with silt loam over fractured basalt soils. Grapes are highly sought after, with around 30 top producers purchasing fruit from the vineyard. Considered a cooler site in Washington, leading to extended hang times, which result in balanced, lower-alcohol wines with good acidity and intense, savory flavors.
ABV: 15% // 74 cases produced
Aging and Barrel Program: 33% New French Oak // Aged for 24 months
Tasting Notes: 2021 was a low yield, concentrated vintage. You get white pepper on the nose, followed with a mouthfeel of blackberry and dark fruits. Hints of vanilla from that new French oak. This wine is smooth from nose, to mouth feel, to finish. Perfect, subtle tannin for structure. Classic and balanced, Boushey fruit.
Food Pairing: Anelare's Blueberry Goat cheese pizza, braised meats, barbeque, red sauces.
